Dr. Evgenios Metaxas graduated in 1995 from Laniteo High School B’. After his military service, he studied medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received his degree from the School of Medicine in 2003 (MD). Following, he did his internship at the General Hospital of Limassol and in 2005 he moved to Athens, at O Evangelismos” General Hospital to specialize in Pulmonology. In 2010 he received the specialty title in “Pulmonology – Tuberculosis”. At the same time, he joined the volunteer group Doctors of the World and took part in a mission to Sri Lanka after the devastating tsunami that hit the country in 2004.

While he was in Athens, he showed a special research interest and participated in various research groups resulting in publication of various research papers. At the same time, he received a master’s degree (M.Sc.) in “Biostatistics” from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Finally, he started his doctoral thesis (Ph.D.) which he completed in 2016. In 2010 he also received the European diploma in adult Pulmonology from the European Respiratory Society.

After returning to Cyprus, he practices private medicine. He is an active member of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Nicosia. In 2014 he was awarded the title of Honorary Lecturer of the Medical School of St George’s University of London and since 2018 he has been appointed as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Medical School of the University of Nicosia.
